That special place

Everyone deserves a home that makes them happy, don't you think? It's important to have that special place that lifts your spirit, relaxes the body & soothes the mind. So, if you close your eyes & picture your perfect little haven...
Maybe this is your piece of heaven? Courtesy of Espen Grønli. Pic found HERE.
What would it look like? Soft fabrics, a cold colour pallet & natural wood? Vibrant colours, retro furniture & ethnic decor? Masculine corners, dark furniture & shiny metallic eye-catchers? What are you drawn to? Now take a look around you... Does it reflect your dreams & personal taste? No matter where you are, if it's in a mansion, a flat or a rented room I think it's important to make it yours. Of course it stops itself on how much you can do with rented spaces. But I strongly believe that the things you do own should reflect your inner desires. So, if you're design challenged, but have a vision & a fat wallet - Hire someone with the proper expertise to follow it through. ...& if money's an issue, then don't be afraid to go to the local home depot & ask for some free paint samples. (In the colours you love of course. ;)) So if it's only enough paint for a nightstand or the inside of your cardboard box, then that's YOUR little corner of the world. Start small & work your way up. Just remember: Never be afraid to ask for free stuff if your in a penny pincher situation. Scraps in fabric stores, can be made into fabulous pillows, or even fancy lamp shades for hand-me-down lamps. So ask! The worst thing that can happen is a NO, right? ;)

The realization that I've actually been grieving about having to let go of my childhood home last year, really hit me hard. So that's where this notion comes from...if you wondered. :)

Anyway...try to be happy, wherever you are.
